Restoring hope among vulnerable communities
Ssenvuma Memorial Care Foundation exists to improve living standards through empowerment, healthy living conditions, support and care.
It began with seven families
In 2006 Ssenvuma Ilumba began supporting seven vulnerable families through a small local development organisation. When he died in 2007 the work paused, but the need did not.
In 2020 his son, Ssekajja Lawrence, revived and restructured that work as Ssenvuma Memorial Care Foundation. What was seven households is now eight programme areas, a sponsored school cohort of 258 children, savings groups run by grandmothers, and plans for a community hospital and a home care centre.
